To all our Viking friends
Dear Lords, Earls, Chieftains, leader and all other Vikings
The fifteenth market at Foteviken
Almost 10 000 Vikings have visited Foteviken since the first small market 1995 with only four tents and twenty Vikings. Last year more than 700 Vikings came to the market. This year we have tried to reduce the increasing number of Vikings because it’s such a big task to manage this event. We have however this year received more than 500 notifications.
It has become a tradition for a lot of Vikings to arrive early and, together with our friend association “SVEG”, celebrate Midsummer on Foteviken. On this day the Viking Reserve is closed to ordinary visitors.
We think it will be nice to meet both old Viking friends and new one. As always, we ask you to help us with the practical things if needed. As always, we also take no market fee. Note that this only applies if you register not later than the 13 June. After this time, we charge a fee of 200 SEK / person. In addition, you may wait until the registered Vikings have got there food at the party at Saturday and during breakfast on Saturday / Sunday. Furthermore, we can not guarantee your food at these times.

Some detailed information
Thing meeting on Thursday, July 1 at 10am
It is important for us at Foteviken to have a dialogue which invitations Lords, Earls, Chieftains and Group Leader. We therefore call to a Ting meeting at 10:00 held before the Shield Hanging on Thursday at 11:00 to discuss things that concern the future of Halör Market. You can help us become even better through different tips on what we can improve. We also want to take this opportunity to convey information to you that’s related to the market.
The Shield Hanging ceremony on Thursday July 1 at 11am
This ceremony take place outside Thinghöll. Viking groups who want their shield to be hang in Thinghöll hand over the shield to the king of Foteviken during the ceremony.
The big Viking feast at Saturday evning
If the weather is good we will have this big party outside the entrance building. Here we have a beautiful view over the bay of Höllviken. On one side you will find the high seat for the king and juror of Foteviken. On the opposite side we want to invite all Lords, Earls, Chieftain and Group leaders for larger Viking groups. And of course all the other Vikings in between. As usual we hope for good international Viking entertainment when we are drinking and eating.
When you arrive
This year, we will not have public parking inside the museum area. Only you who during the visit live in a camper, trailer etc are permitted to park here (before parking you must notify the Market Secretariat and get a sign which shall be put up in the car window). All other Vikings shall park at the special Viking parking close to the riding school only a few hundred meters from the museum area, see the Parking map.
NOTE: If you come late at night you can sleep in the common dormitory in Freya's hall near the museum parking. Be careful not to disturb those who already are there when you arrive. (The entrance door is to the left of the entrance to the old guild hall of Valhalla.)
About the Market place
An increasing number of local Vikings now have got their own plots inside the town wall.
This means there is less space for visiting Vikings inside the town itself. As many of you know there is however much room for Viking tents outside the city wall.
This year we have marked the whole tent area. This makes it easier for us to organize the sites which may be assigned to your tent/tents. Note that Oscar or Bjorn have to participate and accept the place where you put up the tent. Please also note that the Viking area is closed for cars during the night.
About The Market Secretariat / Museum Shop / Restaurant
The Secretariat is located behind the main entrance of the museum. Here each of you personally must register your self and get your tickets for the breakfast and for the Viking feast at Saturday.
We have now a restaurant in direct connection to the Museum entrance and our Museum shop. Here we serve food, wine and beer.
